Vision & Mission

Our Vision

At GreenBinSA we are passionate about clean living. We want to keep food waste out of landfills and replace nutrients in soil. As a team we want to educate people about the harmful impact of rotting food and the toxic gases emitted as a result. The ultimate goal is to limit the pollution that goes into the air we breathe. Our vision is to get as many people as possible educated about the harmful impacts of throwing out food waste.

The aim of this enterprise is to convince people that there are better ways of discarding their unwanted food products and everyday food waste. A big part of our process is to get this food waste back into the ground safely in order to produce organic compost.Food security in South Africa and across the world is a threat. Harvesting removes important nutrients from the soil, nutrients that needs to be replaced. Organic composting is vital to get nutrients back into the soil.

Our Mission

We want to share our knowledge about the harmful gasses emitted into the air as a result of rotting food sitting in landfills. The goal is to keep any food waste from being thrown into the rubbish bin. We’ve made it our mission to get this food waste back into the earth by way of composting.

Every day we throw out food, not realizing the impact it is having on the environment. In South Africa, we waste 10 million tonnes of food every year. This food gets thrown in the bin and then thrown into landfills where it rots.

Piles of rotten food causes methane gas in the air, which is 20 times more harmful to the environment than carbon di-oxide. Educating the public about the harmful impacts of rotting food is just one aspect of our mission. We do understand the daily constraints of working families which is why we want to ease the pressure and offer a service that will ensure that each person is still doing their bit in keeping food waste out of landfills.
